Cliff Ronning and Al Iafrate formed Base Hockey (with their 33 years of NHL experience) to bring the NHL-Advantage to you!
Since your shot happens in 1/4 of a second, Base uses high speed video to analyze your shot, determine your optimal specs, and teach you the proper shooting technique.
Al Iafrate will spend an hour with you in a one-on-one session that will change the way you shoot and handle the puck forever!
Al Iafrate - The Base Experience
Your one hour private session with former NHLer Al Iafrate, ("Fastest slap shot in the NHL for 16 years!"), includes:
- 20 Minutes - High speed video analysis to determine your optimal flex, blade curve, lie, and stick size/length
- 20 Minutes - Demo the stick with the recommended specs. All demos are with your skates on skating synthetic ice!
- 20 Minutes - Shooting Instruction
This personalized shooting analysis uses high speed video analysis that records at a rate of 1000 (one thousand) frames per second.
Base's fitting team then determines the player's optimal stick specification and records the video on a keepsake DVD.

The cost of the shooting analysis is $150.00 and you may elect to purchase or order a custom stick built to the player's specifications right after the fitting!

Who Built And Designed Base Hockey Sticks?
President and Co-Founder: Ron Kunisaki
Mr. Kunisaki has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from UCLA and a Jurist Doctorate degree in law from George Washington University. In 1993 Ron founded and launched Innovative Hockey Inc. (IHI), the first composite hockey stick company in North America. In 2005, he sold IHI to Warrior Hockey (a subsidiary of New Balance Inc.). Ron brings his cutting-edge composite design and industry leading innovations exclusively to BASE.
Vice President and Co-Founder: Cliff Ronning
Mr. Ronning is a 19 year veteran of the NHL. He played on seven NHL teams, represented Canada in two World Championships and played one pro season in Europe. In addition to concluding his playing career in the 89th spot amongst the NHL's all-time scoring leaders, Cliff is enshrined in the British Columbia Hockey Hall of Fame. Immediately after retiring, Cliff’s hockey expertise shifted towards fitting NHL players, where he was nicknamed “The Stick Doctor”. Cliff heads up BASE HOCKEY's Shooting Analysis and Custom Fitting protocol.

Bring the "PRO" experience to amateur hockey
players of all ages.
Our mission starts with high-end, custom-built stick designs manufactured in our own factory located in North America. High-speed photography capabilities at our Fitting Centre’s combined with Pro instruction help drive a shooting analysis protocol that further defines a player's individual performance needs in a stick design. Lastly, by structuring a consumer-direct distribution system, BASE can deliver these performance products to the player a fraction of the cost at retail. Add a custom graphics package as the cherry on top, and our plan is complete.
In short, Performance, Customization and Value is what we at BASE believe will change the game.
